As a very little girl, Brittany can remember watching TV episodes of Emergency 911 with her mom, and vowing that when she grew up, she would be like those doctors and nurses on TV. She wanted to save lives and help people who needed her. True to her word, when she grew up, Brittany graduated from the University of Alberta with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing with Distinction, and began her new career as a Registered Nurse.
But wait — something didn’t feel right! After only a few years of practicing, Brittany realized that she did not, in fact, feel like she was helping anyone! She kept seeing sick people come in to the hospital. They’d get nursed back to health, then when they were a bit better, they were sent home on some new medications. Once those ones would go, new ones would come. These new sick people would have the same problems as the last sick people. They too would be nursed back to health. And when they were a bit better, they too would be sent home on those same medications: high blood pressure pills; cholesterol pills; blood thinning pills; type 2 diabetes pills – maybe even insulin. It was a revolving door. She wasn’t doing her life’s work in helping people becase she was merely helping treat the symptoms instead of the problem.
Having fought (and won) a lifelong battle with her weight, Brittany began to explore healthier alternatives to help her lose the extra 25 pounds she was carrying around. She became heavily involved in fitness, and became a Certified Personal Trainer. During this, she also began to take a very significant interest in nutrition. It was at this time that she realized that this was the missing link. All the patients she had seen – the ones that she wasn’t really helping – didn’t need medication to get healthy. They needed a lifesetyle change.
Brittany is passionate about health, nutrition, and helping you get a hold of the beautiful life you deserve. She made a promise to help those who needed her. And today, she is holding true to that.
