I discovered the “chocolate monkey” smoothie at my local smoothie and supplement store, and I basically bought one every single day for two months.
I felt a little ridiculous that I always ordered the same thing, and even more ridiculous that I was spending $7 on a smoothie every day when really I could probably just make my own smoothie at home.
One summer morning as the guy was making my order, I tilted my baseball cap down extra low, crept closer to the smoothie bar and secretly watched his every move to see just how he made it. I took some serious mental notes and next, I obviously headed to the grocery store and bought the ingredients .
I’ve made it over and over again at home and it never gets old. I love it, my husband loves it, and my kids love it as well. It makes a delicious post-workout snack, or an anytime snack, fulfills that sweet craving, that chocolate craving and anything- in- between craving. This recipe is just too good to be true, so I simply must share it.
Put the following ingredients into a blender:
- 1.5 cups of organic chocolate almond milk (I prefer unsweetened)
- 1 scoop of Sunwarrior Chocolate Protein Powder (I recommend half a scoop for a child)
- 1 frozen organic banana
- 1 tsp organic cacao powder
- 1 heaping tbsp organic almond butter
- 1/4 cup chopped up organic medjool dates (optional)
Blend on high power. Enjoy!
