Hi! My name is Carole.  Welcome to my blog.  Nutrition is the foundation for my many passions.  I have worked in the elementary school system for about 15 years as an ECE teacher in a JK and SK setting.    I absolutely love my job!  Who wouldn’t love working with 4 and 5 year-olds?  They are my motivation, to do what I can to make a difference in this world.

I have volunteered as an assistant in a private gym for the past 6 years. There I was able to learn about all the benefits and the healing power of nutrition and exercise. I love to exercise!  Running, kick boxing and Crossfit are my specialties.  A fast paced and high intensity workout is like meditation.  I also enjoy the being outdoors in nature, it’s one of my true happy places.  That’s why I love running so much, I get the best of both worlds.

I’ve ran half marathons, 5k and 10 k races.  I’ve placed first in my age group in almost all of my races and in the 2011 Grape and Wine half marathon I placed 7th women overall. This is where nutrition made a big difference for me.  My nutrition for my pre and post workouts and runs were what helped me achieve my personal best.  Weight training was another very important component as to why I was able to improve my race times from year to year.

I’m also a Second Degree Usui Shiki Ryoho Reiki practitioner.  Reiki is a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing. It channels energy into the body by means of touch, to activate the natural healing processes. Believe it or not, nutrition is one of the most essential parts of Reiki in regards to the healing flow of energy.  Energy cannot flow freely if the body has to deal with highly processed foods.  The energy centres can get bogged down dealing with foods that are not in their natural form.

So you can see how nutrition plays a big role in all my passions.  My purpose in life is to make a difference in the world of health and nutrition.  My main focus is women especially mothers of young children.  I feel that we need to change how society views women.  My purpose is to work with women and to help empower them to feel worthy, confident, independent, capable, smart, strong and beautiful just the way they are and the way they are meant to be.
