Shenade is currently a stay-at-home mom to a 4 year old boy and a student of Nutraphoria. She has struggled with weight and hormonal issues her whole life. At the age of 5 she was put on her first diet as she kept gaining weight for no particular reason. She was heavy for most of her life, always struggling with self-esteem and body image. Growing up in a family with two thin women who never understood her struggles made it more difficult for her.
In University she was diagnosed with clinical depression. In 2008 she had a laparoscopy to remove an 11cm Tumour on her left ovary. It turned out it was not a tumor but multiple cysts and she was diagnosed with polycystic ovarian syndrome (AKA PCOS). Also in 2008, she was diagnosed with a rare disease called Pseudohyperparathyhroidism, which also includes a vitamin D and calcium deficiency. In 2009, she was her heaviest at 220 lbs. She also received wonderful news she was pregnant but later had a miscarriage. In 2010 at her heaviest weight of 220lbs, and after several failed attempts at exercising and dieting the healthy way, she tried the Dr. Bernstein diet and lost 83lbs.
Struggling to maintain this weight over the next few years, she got pregnant again, and gained back 85lbs! She did deliver a healthy baby boy but really struggled with her new body after pregnancy. Going back to strict dieting and severe restriction she lost a lot of the weight but it eventually stopped working. She tried exercising again and counting macronutrients. This worked for 10lbs of weight loss but stopped working. Then she tried the Ideal protein diet which took off another 35 lbs but stopped working. Struggling to get the last 20lbs off and dealing with extreme fatigue, chronic hormonal acne, mood swings, nutrient deficiencies, severe digestive issues, she decided enough was enough and began looking into alternative treatments and ways of eating.
After extensive research, her passion for Holistic nutrition thrived and she decided to pursue her new-found passion and become a student of Nutraphoria. She wants to Coach others on the dangers of dieting and help them to live healthy life and lose weight without dieting. Having come so far with weight loss, fitness and healthy living, she wants to share her wealth of knowledge she has gained thus far, along with the new wealth of information she is gaining in this program with others. She wants to Coach family, friends and many others to live a healthy and diet-free life.
Shenade has a Bachelor of Management in Human Resource Management and Industrial Relations (2003). She worked for the College of Alberta Psychologists for over 10 years as a registration and credentials evaluation coordinator. After serious consideration, she left her permanent position in 2013 to become a stay-at-home.
The best thing Shenade has learned on her journey is life should not be about dieting but living a healthy lifestyle with whole foods, natural products, exercise and mindfulness.
