Hi my name is Tania. For as long as I can remember I have been struggling with my weight. I was 25 pounds over weight. I was a very inactive child and teenager. I chose watching television with a big bowl of candy and chips in my lap rather then play sports with my very active brother. When I was 14 years old something had to change.
I joined weight watchers with my mother and my twin sister. I lost 25 pounds! I was so excited that I got to fit into a smaller size of clothing, I looked better and more importantly I felt better! I started off slowly with exercise. I would ride my bicycle, or try out different beach body workout videos. Eventually in my early twenties, with the encouragement from my brother, I decided to join a gym. I fell in love with it! I started seeing my muscles forming and I was getting stronger almost every week!
As I was seeing my body changing, the one thing that I struggled since I was 16 years old was my eczema and rosacea on my face. Looking down at the floor or keeping my hair down did not hide my skin condition. My doctor prescribed me cortisone cream to apply to my skin and it disappeared for the most part but would flare up time to time. It was frustrating! After 10 years of using cortisone on my face, I learnt it was the worst thing I could have done. I stopped using it abruptly. I now use a different cream but still not too happy about the results. Its been about a year now since I’ve met my nutritionist and she taught me that the only way to completely rid of my eczema and rosacea was through a healthy and wholesome diet.
My outer self was just a reflection of what was going on, on the inside of my body. Although I’ve lost weight through the years, I did have difficulty keeping it off so I yo-yo dieted a lot! I’m addicted to junk food and that eventually led me to my other problems, hypothyroidism and hypoglycemia. Now I have THREE problems to deal with!
I felt my dreams of looking like a fitness model was over but my nutritionist helped me get back on track and showed me new ways of eating. There was a whole new world out there that I was unaware of for so many years! Of course through my health and fitness journey, there are still a couple of bumps on the road but when I would stick to eating a healthful diet and workout, I notice my skin clearing up and people can finally see ME! Going through my own journey, my friends were inspired by me and they asked me for help. I was so excited to help transform them!
Almost 8 years of my life has been about health and fitness. At 28 years old, I finally opened my eyes and realized this is what I’m meant to do with my life. A lesson I’ve learned throughout my own journey, is that becoming healthy and fit doesn’t happen over night. It takes time, patience, motivation and determination to get there! There are times where I find myself wanting to give up and just eat a cupcake or two and not workout at all. I’m not perfect. We are human beings, we have moments of weakness but we are also VERY strong too.
In times of struggle I want to be there for those who need that little push, who needs that extra encouragement to move forward in their goals and realize that they are worth it! Becoming a Holistic Nutritionist and a Personal Trainer is my calling and I want to inspire others to live a happy healthy and fit life! I’m excited in joining those on their very own journey! I’m ready, ARE YOU! 😉
